Raoul and Emmeline
Who is Beauty and Who is the Beast?

askandre:

Tale as old as time, true as it can be. Barely even friends then somebody bends unexpectedly. Just a little change, small to say the least. Both a little scared. Neither one prepared. Raoul and Emmeline.

((I’m at my desk, bored out of my mind, and after stumbling across this lovely little re-write of the classic “Beauty and the Beast” song as well as reading Raoul’s confession of love for his Emmeline, I decided to make this very quickly. Because I love Raoul. And I love this creation of Emmeline, and I love this RP. And I’m bored.))

askandre:

“Yes, right away!”

He scribbled a note and had it sent away to the Vicomte’s residence.

“What a relief, Firmin. We can all be happy with this decision.” He put a hand on Firmin’s shoulder. “For every struggle of the past, we can now look forward to even greater successes. With the ghost married, and the Vicomte on his way to his own marriage and success, and the opera on a steady path, there is only happiness in store for us!”

“I knew this business would bear more fruit than our previous one! Let us celebrate, my good friend, Andre!”

Firmin looked around the office with pride and beamed at his business partner. With the opera ghost settling down and the productions on a steady trail, they were surely on the road to success.

askandre:

“Let us see, here. The damage was done indeed, but nothing too scathing. To the public it will appear as if they were courting, falling in love, and bound to be engaged. The marriage should hush up the scandal completely.

“And the Vicomte is a great man, indeed. No argument there. His passion for the arts has been reflected in his generous donations to the Opera Populaire, despite our rough patches over the past several weeks.”

Andre stood and turned to stand in front of the window. It was a sunny day and the future seemed bright. There could be no happier decision than this.

“There is no better patron. None who would care so deeply for the opera, nor any who would work so well with us. My friend, we must bring the Vicomte to the opera house tonight, before he is carried away with the wedding. He must be assured that he will remain patron to the Opera Populaire!”

Wonderful! So, they were to settle on keeping the Vicomte. It truly would be difficult to find someone as dedicated as Raoul for their patron. Firmin followed his friend’s lead and stood, as well, offering Andre a bright smile.

“Yes, yes. Let us send the Vicomte a message, now that we have our decision!”

askandre:

“Indeed. Yes. Yes, I want to keep him around, as well. But his scandal has hurt the impression of the Opera Populaire. While he has done well to repair it, the damage has been done and I am quite concerned. Many of our high paying members are less forgiving…”

He rubbed his temple.

“Please, do give me any arguments to keep the Vicomte as patron. I would much prefer not to give him any reason to be upset.”

“Mmhm…”

Firmin took a seat at the desk, simply drumming his fingers against the wood as he thought.

“He has been very loyal, a great man, surely you agree. Furthermore, the Vicomte is quite passionate for the arts and such.”

However, the scandal with Mademoiselle Dubois was truly a concern as it did impacted the Opera Populaire’s reputation.

“The scandal is clearing up, as well, is it not? What if we are unable to find another patron as likable and dedicated as he is?”

askandre:

Andre had his head in his hands. Never before had he been forced to make such a weighted decision.

Suddenly there was a knock and he lifted his head just in time to see Firmin open the door.

“Firmin!” He stood and welcomed his friend.

“I know this isn’t the easiest decision to make, but it must be done. For the good of the opera house. And for the good of our friend, the Vicomte.”

“Mhmm… A difficult decision, indeed…”

He paused, just taking a few more moments to balance the choices in his mind.

“I personally believe we should keep the Vicomte with this opera house.”

It is a pleasure to meet you as well, Monsieur Firmin!

Oh, but the pleasure is all mine! Perhaps the Vicomte could bring you to the opera house sometime.
